Over two days in April Valley Voices will celebrate all things poetry with a Poetry Festival featuring several Okanagan writers. From Friday April 11 to Saturday April 12 2025 in Kelowna everyone is welcome to attend free poetry readings and join free poetry writing workshops. April is National Poetry Month in Canada.
On Saturday April 12 spend the day at the downtown Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library 1380 Ellis Street. Write poetry in the morning at one of two free workshops (registration is required) then bring your brown bag lunch at 12 noon to listen to readings from two lyrical powerful and political new books by Kelowna poet Norah Bowman and Vernon poet jaz Papadopoulos. Finish off a dazzling day of poetry at 1:30 pm with a reading and conversation about the wonders of the long poem with master poet Sharon Thesen of Lake Country and the brilliant Klara du Plessis a UBC Okanagan researcher.
For more information and to register for the poetry writing workshops check out the Festival website: https://www.valleyvoicesokanagan.com/s-projects-basic Spaces for the writing workshops are limited. All events are free of charge and all are welcome to attend.
