The Kelly Cup is the oldest women’s football trophy in New Zealand, first established in 1973. It is a prestigious knockout competition primarily involving senior women’s clubs within the Capital Football region (Wellington and surrounding areas).
The cup was donated by Val and Terry Nutter of the Newlands Club and named after Pat Kelly, the first president of the Wellington Women’s Football Association.
Traditionally a pre-season or in-season knockout tournament for regional teams. In recent years, it has sometimes been awarded to the Capital Football club that progresses furthest in the national Kate Sheppard Cup.
The Wellington Phoenix Reserves are the current champions, having secured the 53rd Kelly Cup in July 2025 after defeating Waterside Karori 4–1.
