Katie Skene Band

Katie Skene is a Roots Rock & Americana singer/songwriter/guitarist whose music blends the twang of southern rock with the cosmic sounds of the California jam scene. Originally from Tallahassee, FL and currently based in Ventura, CA, Katie's music embodies the melding of her Southern roots with a decade spent on the West Coast. Through the prism of Katie's evocative vocals, personal songwriting and masterful guitar work, her band blends electric swamp blues with jam-band psychedelia. Onstage, they bring a joyful, incendiary energy that combines timeless songwriting with improvised jams.

Their performance incorporates funky far-out synths, soaring southern-fried guitar, colorful keyboards and intoxicating blues-drenched vocals, all laid over a deeply pocketed groove. Their music revives the spirit of bands like The Allman Brothers Band and Grateful Dead, maintaining an unpredictable quality that still feels familiar. You might also find yourself thinking about the Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Samantha Fish and early era Bonnie Raitt.

Katie has shared the stage with many legendary artists and musicians, including Bob Weir & Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers Band), Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Col. Bruce Hampton and more. Katie's other projects include jam-band supergroup California Kind (with John Molo, Pete Sears, Barry Sless & Rob Barraco) and a collaboration with instrumental funk-world music band, TV Broken 3rd Eye Open. She has been a Crazy Horse favorite for many years now, but this will be our first time welcoming her with her own band. It’s about time!
