Immerse yourself in the timeless craft of Karesansui , the Japanese art of dry landscape gardening, where nature’s beauty is expressed through the careful arrangement of rocks, sand, and other natural elements.
During this hands-on workshop, guided by the Vancouver Japanese Gardeners Association (VJGA) , you will learn how to craft your own Japanese dry rock garden in a 9x12-inch box. The session covers:
-The basics of rock placement and arrangement.
-Techniques for drawing Samon 砂紋(ripple patterns) in the sand, representing waves and adding life to your garden.
-Insights into the philosophical meaning behind Karesansui.
All materials are provided, including a take-home kit with a box, a 5-piece rake set, sand, stones, and moss, so whether you're a beginner or a garden enthusiast, you can enjoy the meditative process of designing your miniature landscape.
