Justice-Doing of Kin-First Training

This training is a follow-up to the training provided in May. It will be a deeper dive into how to implement systems of care that seek to keep children with their families. The training is designed for professionals serving the Child welfare System of Care, including child welfare, probation, behavior health, ICWA advocates and support staff, resouce families, bench and bar and Wraparound services.

Kin-First is family-centered culture within the system of children's care. This culture exists when every system that works with families and children adopts policies and practices of keeping children safe in the home. If a child must be removed from a home, finding the safest placement for the child to live. The primary goal of kin-first is to partner with resource families that keep children connected to their communities, family, culture, and tribe. This goal gives families and communities the opportunities to heal from trauma together.

There is free parking in the parking lot south of the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, near the intersection of Clay St and Oak St.

Following these two training days in person, we will be offering two virtual days to help keep the momentum of positive change. Those VIRTUAL TRAINING days will be December 10 and January 3rd. We will send out links for those training days 24 hours before the training.

N OTE: This training activity is funded in partnership with Chabot-Las Positas Community College District and Mendocino County Social Services Agency, with grant funding that is specifically allocated to training professionals and caregivers in Mendocino County who work with foster youth or those at risk of entry.
