Just By Design: Southside RVA Housing & Climate Carnival

Climate change does not impact all communities equally. In Southside Richmond, the risks of heat, flooding, and displacement fall hardest on those already navigating historic inequities.

This summit is a call to action—and a carnival of ideas and solutions.

Step right up: residents, advocates, builders, and policymakers will gather like neighbors at the fairgrounds. Together we’ll spin the Ferris wheel of possibility, rising high to see the big picture. We’ll toss out old barriers like rings at a bottle game, and win lasting prizes of racial and economic equity. Popcorn, laughter, and community energy remind us that joy fuels resilience. Like cotton candy, our vision is sweet—but built on strong foundations of affordable, resilient housing and justice for all.

We come with urgency, but also with celebration—because creating a just future isn’t just survival, it’s a ride worth taking together.
