About this Event

Interested in golf, history or museums? Join a new hands-on group in St Andrews where you’ll explore the story of golf in the home of the game. Inspired by the collections of the Museum, you’ll learn how real historians and museum professionals research, collect and preserve the past.

Over three sessions, you’ll investigate golf’s hidden stories, work with historical materials and you may even be inspired to build a small collection of your own – through objects, photographs and local stories.

  • 17 July - "How do we learn about golf history?" - looking at collections, books and archives, handling objects to discover what we can learn from these items.
  • 31 July - "Collecting Golf History" - what do we collect and why, how do we catalogue items, stories from the community and promote hidden voices.
  • 14 August - "Building your own archive" - pick an object or person from history and write a short description of it, create your own mini display or create a social media story about the importance of it.

No experience needed – just curiosity. Ideal for anyone interested in careers in museums, heritage or sport.

Limited spaces available. We would ask that a parent or guardian please be present for each young person. Refreshments available for all.
