About Ma Fille by Bekka Laurent:
Ma Fille (pronounced mah FEE, meaning my daughter) is a lyrical work of historical and spiritual fiction rooted in Mobile, Alabama’s Creole past.

When Miranda Collins follows her husband to Mobile seeking a fresh start, she instead finds herself unraveling—haunted by waking visions, drawn repeatedly to an abandoned Creole house on Cedar Street, and plagued by dreams of a woman long gone yet impossibly familiar. About Museum of the Soon to Depart by Andy Young:
In the midst of intimate losses, Young searches for her place in history as it unfolds around her: a revolution, a plague, a natural disaster. As curator of her museum, she navigates her own and others’ suffering through intense observation—from the inner mechanisms of grief and illness to the solace of distance provided by photography. The material of the poet’s own life and events on the world stage intertwine, resulting in poems with a staggering range, inhabiting language in ways that ultimately point to its limits.
