This ride is an out and back on Powerline Pass out to Grey Lake. We will start at the Glen Alps (Flattop) parking lot and ride 5 miles to the lake. This is almost entirely uphill with an elevation gain of about 550 ft. The trail is pretty good, but rocky, and there is typically some shallow water to traverse. It isn’t a race out to the lake and most people can get out there in under an hour.
We hope to recreate the magic from last year’s ride and bring the Cheese and Crackers out to the lake for socializing instead of at the end of the ride in the parking lot.
Important stuff:
1) We will meet in the upper parking lot, but if it’s a sunny day it might be busy. So look for the Trek flag by Dave’s black car.
2) Parking is in the state park lot which requires an annual or daily parking pass.
3) This trail is rocky so a mountain bike is highly recommended. Skinny tires will be really challenging.
4) This is an out and back so any mechanical problems require a fix on the trail or pushing your bike back. The group will have basic bike tools but don’t rely on us being able to fix every problem. An extra tube is always a good idea.
5) Bug and bear spray is always a good idea. Note that these are typically two different sprays. 😂
