July 4th Family Day at the Old State Capitol

Join us at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site on Saturday, July 4th as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday! The site will be open from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM, with special programs and events throughout the day.
Scheduled programs include:
- 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM (two sessions)Tie-Dye 250:
Youth ages 5-15 can celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday by creating a patriotic tie-dye shirt.

Program offered twice:
- Noon-1:00 Donner-Reed Party: Manifest Dreams
Learn about the Donner-Reed Party’s reasons for leaving for Springfield, their dreams for the future and what they hoped to accomplish on their journey west.

- 1:00-3:00 pm Capitol Creations
Make & Take/Take & Make projects offered by Studio on Sixth
No reservations needed, projects and supplies will be available for purchase onsite when you arrive
