Jordan Wood was born and raised in Lewiston and then Gardiner. Growing up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck, Jordan experienced firsthand the challenges of economic insecurity: from his mother leaving the workforce due to unaffordable childcare, to later rejoining it when his father's job stopped covering healthcare. Jordan only made it to college through need-based student loans, and these early struggles shaped his understanding that families like his were hurt by corporate influence in Washington, inspiring him to dedicate his career to fighting corruption.
As Vice President of End Citizens United, Jordan helped lead the No Corporate PAC Pledge, a first-of-its-kind national effort to get members of Congress and candidates to refuse corporate PAC money. Because of his work, we went from 1% to 20% of Democrats rejecting corporate money, despite party leadership opposition. He later served as Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Katie Porter, taking on Wall Street banks and powerful financial interests. After witnessing the January 6th insurrection while barricaded in Rep. Porter's office, he co-founded democracyFIRST, a bipartisan organization that has successfully defeated dozens of election deniers threatening the free and fair administration of elections.
