*TICKETING & DOOR POLICY*
Whilst we occasionally run ticketed Friday Night Specials, entry for our regular weekly Thursday club nights is on a first-come-first-served basis and unticketed and we do not take advanced seat bookings.
Entry for regular club nights is free, we pay our guests by way of a *CASH* collection. Whilst we understand that some simply haven't the means to make a contribution and absolutely DO NOT wish to exclude them, we expect those who can to make as generous a donation as they are able in recognition of our guest's work.
*JON PALMER ACOUSTIC TRIO
From the very first time that a promo copy of the band's 2017 album "The Silences in Between" hit my CD player it was clear that putting them on at Crookes would become a highlight of the year, and so it proved!
We have had The Jon Palmer Quartet as Well as Jon Palmer & Wendy Ross, this time Jon will be bringing on his Jon Palmer Acoustic Trio, drawn from the outstanding Jon Palmer Acoustic Band.
Jon writes songs from the heart that draw on the best of the traditional and the contemporary folk world. A master of the unforgettable chorus, you will find it difficult to leave one of his performances without a song or two lodged firmly in your head.
In the full band, Jon (guitar, vocals) is accompanied by Adam Hopkins (cajon & vocals), Wendy Ross (violin & vocals), Eddy Green (bass & vocals), Iain Cunningham (keyboards & vocals), Lee Wellbrook (mandolin & vocals) forming a tight-knit unit that revel in playing venues from small intimate folk clubs to full size festival stages. They are fully in tune with Jon’s songwriting and perform them with passion, enthusiasm and not a small amount of joy. Together, they have established a formidable live reputation which is hard to beat.
2025's excellent "Light Goes Low" joined an ever expanding catalogue of outstanding albums, including "Vacca Wall" and "One Fine Day".
Jon is a former winner of the Grolsch UK Songwriter of the Year, and a published songwriter with Sony.
“Energy filled folk-rock spilled from a 6-piece that hit the audience straight between the ears right from the start, rarely letting up” - Fatea
“...their joy illuminated the venue with feel-good folk-rock with spirit and a conscience” - At The Barrier
“…the biggest noise of the weekend, topped with 6-part harmonies, flying fiddle, energy, joy and spirit” - Folk North West
