Joe Webb at the St James’s Club
About this Event
Following two consecutive sold-out concerts, the St James’s Club recital series returns for another exceptional evening of live music in the historic surroundings of one of Manchester’s most distinguished private members’ clubs.
Experience Joe Webb, one of Britain’s most exciting jazz pianists, at close quarters. Renowned for his dazzling improvisation and magnetic stage presence, Joe combines the spirit of traditional jazz with contemporary flair, influences from 1990s Britpop and the distinctive character of his Welsh roots.
Since moving to London in 2013, Joe has become a leading figure on the international jazz scene. He has performed at Ronnie Scott’s, Blue Note China, Jazzwoche Burghausen and the London Jazz Festival, and is known for his work with Kansas Smitty’s and his collaborations with the Wynton Marsalis Quartet. His playing is virtuosic, spontaneous and full of personality—bringing the energy of a rock concert to the intimacy of the jazz piano.
The elegant setting of St James’s Club offers a rare chance to hear an extraordinary musician away from the distance of a traditional concert hall. With limited seating and an audience gathered close to the performance, every note, gesture and moment of improvisation can be experienced in remarkable detail.
The bar will open from 6:30pm, with the concert beginning at 8pm. Following the performance, guests will have the opportunity to meet Joe, speak with him about the music and continue the evening at the Club’s bar, which will remain open until late.
Both previous concerts in the series sold out. Early booking is strongly recommended.
This performance is generously supported by Yamaha Pianos.
