JJ Slater Afternoon Songwriting Workshop/Song-Swap

JJ Slater has spent the past decade welding together folk, jazz, and psychedelic rock across multiple projects, with his wide, funky, fingerstyle guitar playing at the center of arrangements. His storytelling solo performances and his playful, energetic band performances both feature spontaneous improvisation, medleys, and an unmistakable air of joy and reverence.
On Sunday, November 8, we invite you to a small songwriting workshop that will explore using musical motion (voice-leading, chordal movement, key changes, and motifs) to amplify emotional content in songs and keep them engaging. There'll also be a short set, as well as a song-swap if you are working on something you're particularly proud of!
