She researches Victorian broadsides. She sings Lancashire dialect. She opens for Pulp.
Jennifer Reid is a punk folk artist from Northern England who carries on the tradition of using music as social provocation—braiding nineteenth-century archival material with the present. Her work doesn’t just preserve history; it provokes with it.
On screen, she’s Barb in Shane Meadows’ The Gallows Pole. On stage, she’s supported John Cooper Clarke and toured with Eliza Carthy for 18 months.
Last year, she played The Jam Factory. Nigel reviewed. He left infatuated.
"Jennifer Reid commanded the stage with nothing but her words, singing, storytelling and at the end of the night, her dancing clogs."
Fresh from a critically acclaimed 2025 Aotearoa tour—Hamsterfest, Tradfest, Pōneke to Whanganui to the Devonport Bunker—the UK's punk folk archivist is BACK. Joining her is the brilliant local duo Poetic Justice (Meshell Hardman and John Baxter).
