A unique jazz experience in Lisbon: the debut of Lisbon Saxophones, a new orchestra dedicated to the sound of swing and golden era jazz.
About this Event

On 27 June at 21h00, Lisbon will host the debut concert of the Lisbon Saxophones, a new jazz orchestra based in the city.

This unique ensemble brings together some of Lisbon’s leading professional jazz musicians in a rare formation: an orchestra composed exclusively of saxophones in the horn section, supported by a jazz rhythm section. The result is a powerful, warm, and distinctive sound inspired by the swing orchestras of the 1920s and 1930s.

Led by artistic director Kirill Bubiakin, a musician and conductor with 15 years of experience directing large jazz ensembles internationally, the project represents the culmination of four years of artistic development. After co-founding and directing the Saint Petersburg Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra, he brings this new concept to life in Lisbon.

The programme features original arrangements and compositions created specifically for this ensemble, reimagining classic swing aesthetics through a contemporary lens.

This debut concert also marks the launch of a new long-term artistic project within Lisbon’s cultural scene.
