Jazz Funk Soul (JFS) is a powerhouse trio whose chemistry lives up to the saying omne trium perfectum-everything that comes in threes is perfect. Saxophonist Everette Harp, keyboardist Jeff Lorber, and guitarist Paul Jackson Jr. seamlessly blend jazz, funk, and soul into a sound praised by JazzTimes as “a hefty, and very tasty helping of jazz, funk and soul,” and by AllMusic as a “creatively vibrant unit with a shared vision.” Each member is a towering figure in Contemporary Jazz, with decades of collaboration alongside legends like Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, and countless others. Together, they’ve sold millions of albums and generated more than 50 #1 Smooth Jazz radio hits.

Formed in 2014, JFS began with Harp, Lorber, and the late Chuck Loeb, whose spirit and musicianship helped define the group’s early sound. Following Loeb’s passing in 2017, the trio honored his legacy while moving forward with Paul Jackson Jr. completing the lineup. Their fourth album, Forecast (2022), captures the band’s magnetic chemistry, deep camaraderie, and forward-thinking musical vision. Created largely during the pandemic, the album reflects both reflection and momentum-rooted in jazz tradition while pushing confidently into the future.

At its core, Forecast is about connection: between musicians, generations, and styles. From funk-driven grooves to soulful ballads and blues-infused explorations, the album highlights each member’s virtuosity while emphasizing the collective voice. As Lorber notes, the goal is simple and timely-to offer listeners an oasis of joy, groove, and positive energy.
