About this Event

Practice the Art of Japanese Calligraphy (Shodō)

Japanese Calligraphy, or Shodō, is an artistic practice that serves as a connection to Japanese culture. It involves expressing a wide range of characters, including Kanji (derived from Chinese characters) and Kana (the Japanese writing system).

The art is defined by three primary brush styles, each offering a unique aesthetic: the structured Square Style (Kaisho), the fluid Semi-Cursive (Gyōsho), and the dynamic Cursive (Sōsho). Intrinsic to Japanese culture, Shodō is a beautiful art form that lets you explore the nation's proud history.
