Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Michelle Saylors, was born in Tennessee, where she grew up on a farm (the youngest of five), ‘with a creek on one side and fields on the other,’ where the family, ‘raised everything we ate.’ Michelle began piano lessons around age 10 and is self-taught on guitar and mandolin. She gravitated towards so many different styles of music. Her roots are country, bluegrass, blues, folk and gospel, and classics like Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn, George Jones and of course Elvis.
Saylors performs regularly at The Portside, Rivers and Rhodes, The Elks Club, The Common Pub and The Nest, all in Bristol, as well as Localz in Portsmouth. She also was featured this year on the RE/MAX float in the Bristol Fourth of July Parade and her music can be found on Spotify and Apple music. She is excited to share tunes off her debut album.
Mike Iula
Born and raised in RI, Mike is known for his unique and exquisite finger-styled guitar. His writing style, both storytelling and imagery, brings you to another place in time. He is frequently out playing at various venues and is making his 2nd appearance in the At the River Series. Mike will always surprise you with a new song or possibly a familiar one in his own style. We look forward to having Mike again At the River!!
Jeremy Swan
A songwriter from South Kingstown, who began writing songs to pass the time during long days on an oyster farm, has continued to write these past 7 years. Still working on the farm, adding long drives and ever changing scenes of people and places and life that comes with being "roadie" for a large global touring acts. This inspiring his Americana and storytelling writing style.
Jeremy Swan released a debut CD "Northbound/Sandy Beachtown Road" in 2024. And a second album due in 2025. We are very excited to have Jeremy have his debut here At the River and can't wait to hear him live!
Mary Pierce, Singer/Songwriter of Folk music and Founder and Host of the At the River Series is local to Narragansett and is so pleased with the Series now in its 17th month. She has also started a 2nd location at the General Stanton Inn (held on the 2nd Sunday of each month). Mary is thrilled to see the At the River Series grow with more people attending each month to hear some of the best songwriters in New England. She has a knack for scouting exceptional and authentic talent and is bringing community together again on Jan 30th at Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores Clubhouse!
Mary has several albums released: Miles Away, Dublin Bay, Hideway and Memory Road and can be seen with her full band with Paul Colombino (guitar) and her sister, Margi Gianquinto (piano and harmony vocals). Mary met Paul when he performed at one of the At the River shows and have been playing in the band together ever since! She is honored to have him grace the At the River Stage on January 30th! And there's nothing quite like singing with a sibling-Mary and Margi have seamless and beautiful harmonies that are unmatched. Keep the music going and hope to see you on January 30th!
