Jakuzi is an Istanbul-based synth-pop band known for blending darkwave, post-punk, new wave and traditional Middle Eastern folk into a melancholic yet danceable sound. Their distinctive aesthetics, emotional depth, and dynamic live performance will take you back on a nostalgic trip to the 80s.Founded in 2015 by Kutay Soyocak and Taner Yücel, the band quickly gained attention with their debut album, Fantezi Müzik (2017), which was later re-released by Berlin-based label City Slang. Inspired by artists like John Maus, The Human League, and Depeche Mode, the pair has created their own 21st century take on their home country’s time-honoured sound.
Their second album Hata Payı (2019) blends elements of low-fi, new wave, krautrock, and post punk together. It further solidified their reputation with a darker and more introspective sound, offering a home to anyone who has ever felt out of place. The band’s latest album, Madalyon I (2024), continues their evolution, exploring themes of identity, transformation, and emotional struggle with a refined, cinematic production style.
