About this Event
In a celebration of International Women's Day, Mila Mar (pseudonym of Renata Mirra) invites you to join her in an exploration of the meaning of gender under capitalism-patriarchy, using her book 'The Woman Constructed'.
The book was self-published in a ‘Cartonera’ publishing style, meaning that each copy is handmade with a unique cover design. All the proceeds from the book go towards Palestine solidarity and liberation campaigns. This is a free event, but donations are welcome and will also go towards these.
In this session, you will be invited to debate and re-write parts of the book, and to sew and decorate book copies, honouring the spirit of 'Cartonera'. Please bring a notebook/paper and pen/pencil. Everything else will be provided.
While the focus of this event is the oppression of women and non-binary people under capitalism-patriarchy, people of all genders are welcome to join and contribute in this spirit.
We will gather in the Cathays Community Centre garden at 16:30 for a brief introduction and move to the cafe at 16:45 for the main session.
