It's our Last Hurrah at The Wash Bar!
About this Event
We are delighted to be celebrating our Eighth Birthday. In fact, we don’t have an ‘actual’ birthday, but we always use our August Salon to celebrate how, in 2018, a small group of us took on running a monthly Salon when the City of Literature were no longer able.
Eight years on, we’ve hosted nearly a hundred free events, produced two anthologies of new writing, welcomed numerous guests and authors from across the literary landscape of Edinburgh and beyond, sustaining a community for anyone with a love of literature.
So, a party is in order.
The Wash Bar is where many of us first attended the Salon. We were warmly welcomed back by the proprietor – at least until the pandemic, after which Mike has been trying to retire! He is finally hanging up his bar towel at the end of August, so we’re back for this ‘last hurrah.’
We have run the Edinburgh Literary Salon as an entirely voluntary organisation, with no public funding. For our Eighth Birthday we hope to provide refreshments, decorations, entertainment, and cake of course, so any financial support will be most welcomed.
The best way is to go to our page and buy as many beans as you can!
As always registration is free. There will be no official presentation, so we won’t be to livestreaming this event, but please join us for an evening of celebration and socialization.
