Overview:

Set in the 1950s on a small Italian island, Il Postino is the poignant story of Mario (Massimo Troisi), a humble semi-educated postman, whose only job is to deliver mail to the famous, Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda (Philippe Noiret). Neruda is spending a brief period of his exile on the quiet island of fishermen. An endearing and life-altering friendship slowly emerges between the two, during which Mario develops an intense passion for poetry and for the newly arrived, beautiful Beatrice. But the period of harmony and bliss does not last ….
