🗓 #savethedate - Saturday 29 November 2025 at Ipswich Corn Exchange. We'll let you know when the Box Office is open. 🎶🎹Wagner's noble Overture to Die Meistersinger is an exhilarating start to our upcoming concert, before the welcome return to the stage of rising star, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason. Only nineteen at the time of her previous visit to Ipswich, Gramaphone Magazine stated 'With so much in full flower at such an early age, her future will surely be dazzling' - and it is a huge privilege to have her back with us to perform Beethoven's dramatic and beautiful third piano concerto.
Our concert ends with one of Vaughan Williams' most loved compositions – his fifth symphony. Completed in 1943 as the Second World War raged, this gentle, melodic and uplifting work transports its listeners to pastoral England’s green and pleasant countryside with its quiet serenity and radiant light. The original, unpublished inscription to the symphony reads: ‘Dedicated without permission, with the sincerest flattery, to Jean Sibelius, whose great example is worthy of imitation’. We are indebted to the Vaughan Williams Foundation for their sponsorship of this performance.
