A Christmas concert with Holbrook Choral Society, the Chapel and Chamber Choirs of the Royal Hospital School and the Reade Baroque Ensemble.
Vivaldi’s "Gloria" is one of the most enduringly popular works of the Baroque period, known for its vibrant choral writing and joyful character. Setting the words of the Gloria from the Latin Mass, it moves between exuberance and serenity with remarkable flair — from the jubilant opening 'Gloria in excelsis Deo' to the lyrical beauty of 'Domine Deus' and the gentle poignancy of 'Et in terra pax'. Full of festive spirit and expressive contrast, it remains a favourite in the Christmas choral repertoire.
The second half of the concert will consist of some of your festive favourites, with numerous sing-along carols and a delightful array of joyful works interspersed with some much-loved Christmastide readings.
