Topic: EVs and Smart Grid Risk
Abstract: Increasing use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and the tight coupling of their charging ecosystems with smart power grids presents increased cyber risk threatening power grid stability and resilience. This presentation introduces a generalized perspective of the cyber-physical nexus of this environment, including inter-dependencies, potential threat vectors, defense strategies, and overall challenges.
About the Speaker: Brian is a Computer Scientist with over 40 years of deep technical experience architecting, researching, and securing some of the most advanced systems on the planet. A second-generation space program worker, he started his career building military flight simulators. Brian holds an MS in Digital Forensics, a BS in Computer Science, and six globally recognized cyber certifications. His experience includes key senior leadership roles guiding world class teams protecting some of our nation’s most sensitive systems. Brian was a member of the USAF/Boeing team awarded the 2019 Robert J. Collier Trophy for their work on the X-37B spaceplane. The trophy is awarded annually for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America for the preceeding year.
