Isabella Von Ghoul, Lisa Van Dam-Bates, and Maggie Block launch Hallow’s Eve Zine, from Hinton Publishing. An homage to the original 1986 Japanese magazine Halloween, Hallow’s Eve is a biannual femme created arts publication showcasing real life horror and the macabre through the lens of the dark feminine.

An homage to the original 1986 Japanese magazine Halloween, we are a biannual femme created arts publication showcasing real life horror and the macabre through the lens of the dark feminine. Long left out of mainstream horror representation, women know horror. Hallow’s Eve delves deep into the haunting complexity of the female experience.

Isabella Von Ghoul (she/her) is a renowned artist and curator with a decade of expertise in film, costume design, and media lectures via Cinemancy. Her background includes roles at MoPOP, SIFF, Northwest Film Forum, and managing the Seattle Black Film Festival.

Lisa van Dam-Bates (she/her) is a disabled editor, filmmaker, and environmental activist. She has a prolific background in print media ranging from investigative journalism to fine art documentary photography. She was a co-founder and managing editor of alt monthly The Austin Cut, editor of Artificial Informer and is editor for Seattle’s fine art documentary photography imprint Pigeon Editions. Her feminist horror feature Marla Mae acquired worldwide distribution in 2019, she is currently in development of her eco-horror feature Mother is Sick.

Maggie Block (they/them) is the Deputy Publisher at Hinton Publishing. They are a former youth librarian with over 9 years of experience in public libraries and public schools, and a background in community organizing, creative writing, and theater.
