About this Event
The IRS is hiring accountants for our Revenue Agent positions for the New York, NY metropolitan area.
All experience and education levels will be welcome! Whether you are an experienced accounting professional or just graduated with an accounting degree or just received your CPA certificate, we would like to meet you!
During this event, we will be conducting interviews and making job offers on-the-spot. Selected candidates will be able to complete several pre-employment steps.

Find an interview appointment time to meet with our hiring managers by first selecting the day you want and then the Tickets link to choose an available appointment time. Please schedule only one time slot per person (duplicate appointments will be deleted at our discretion).

Once you complete your registration, apply to the exclusive (nonpublic) New York-only announcement link below by 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, September 22, 2024. We will pre-qualify you and when you attend the event on September 24th or 25th , you’ll be given expedited consideration at the hiring event.
Note: We will qualify you for the highest grade-level based on the experience on your resume. Failure to provide sufficient evidence of your experience will result in a "not qualified" or a lower graded determination.

During this event, we will be conducting interviews and making job offers on-the-spot. Selected candidates will be able to complete several pre-employment steps. The entire process can take about 3-4 hours to complete. Please plan accordingly.

About the Revenue Agent position:
As a Revenue Agent, you will use your skills in accounting to plan and conduct examinations or make determinations on various federal tax matters. These examinations may be performed in the field or in a centralized office setting, working with taxpayers, their representatives, certified public accountants, and tax attorneys. Your duties will vary based on the area you are assigned and will cover a broad range of tax and business issues. Our Revenue Agent positions focus on specific tax matters for individuals, and small, large, and international businesses as well as tax exempt and government entities. You will be working to help fund the Nation!
To qualify for the Revenue Agent position:
You must meet basic education and experience requirements as shown in the job announcements below.
All Revenue Agent candidates must meet the following basic requirements:
• Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting, or
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in another field other than accounting or a combination of education and experience that includes at least 30 semester hours in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and 6 semester hours in a related subject.
Additionally, to qualify for our higher graded positions, you must also have one year of specialized experience. Examples of experience qualifying as specialized include: (This list is not inclusive)
· Experience in interpreting and applying professional accounting and auditing techniques and practices to examine various tax returns of individuals and/or business organizations.
· Examining accounting systems and records including computerized accounting and financial information systems which reflect a variety of complex financial operations.
· Gathering and researching data from a variety of sources, and/or specialized accounting practices unique to a particular trade or industry.
· The interpretation and application of Federal tax law for individuals, business and/or exempt organizations, partnerships, and corporations.
