About this Event
Today, Irish heritage is celebrated, but during the Gilded Age, Irish immigrants were not always welcomed. Many young women who emigrated from Ireland found work as domestic servants in the large homes of the wealthy, including at Staatsburgh. See how these maids lived and learn about the Mills family’s connections to Ireland. We will read an Irish tale and craft soda bread in a jar that you can bake at home. All materials and ingredients will be supplied.
Appropriate for children ages 4 and older, accompanied by an adult.
