About this Event

Step into the rhythm of real farm life and experience the morning chores that sustain Wild Lea Farm.

This immersive program invites you to work alongside our farmers Justin and Lexi as we care for the animals who shape our land, food, and fiber. This is not a demonstration, it’s participation. You’ll feed, water, observe, and learn while helping us complete the essential daily tasks that keep the farm running.

Wild Lea Farm is a small, regenerative livestock farm in Hyde Park & Staatsburg NY focused on ethical animal care, ecological stewardship, and full-animal utilization. During this guided morning, you’ll meet our sheep, rabbits, quail, geese, and chickens, while learning how thoughtful husbandry, nutrition, and land management come together in a working farm system.

As we move through the chores, you’ll gain insight into:

  • Why animals are fed what they are fed and how nutrition changes seasonally
  • How water systems, shelter, and bedding are managed in different weather conditions
  • How to observe animal behavior and health through daily care
  • How livestock contribute to soil health and regenerative land practices
  • The role these animals play in producing the food and fiber you see at our farmers market booth

This experience is slow, intentional, educational, and deeply connected to the realities of farm life. Expect to get a little dirty, ask questions, and leave with a greater appreciation for the work behind humane, local agriculture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Feed and water sheep, rabbits, quail, geese & chickens
  • Help distribute hay, grains, and fresh bedding (seaonsally dependent)
  • Collect eggs and observe daily animal health checks
  • Learn how chore routines change with the seasons
  • Ask questions throughout the process in a small-group setting
