By the end of the training delegates will be able to:
- Understand the key legal requirements and standards to be achieved within a healthcare environment.
- Understand how CQC and UK health and safety legislation requirements compare and relate to each other.
- Understand how accidents occur, how to implement simple systems to prevent them.
- Know how to conduct an accident investigation and what to record, and how to use this to reassure staff and service users.
- Know how to conduct a risk assessment, and to implement a risk assessment strategy throughout your demised area of authority.
- Identify the key hazards in the healthcare environment and the management and controls of each (e.g. manual handling, management of aggression).
- Understand environmental issues within the health care sector.
- Know how to implement simple safety systems into other business initiatives and responsibilities to enable an integrated approach to safety when planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing your systems.
