IOE Overcoming Imposter Syndrome - Conference

Have you ever thought that other students are smarter than you, work harder than you and are having much more fun than you? Are you worried that you’re not good enough to be at UCL?

That's how it can feel sometimes when you're a student at the IOE, but it doesn't mean it's true. Many, if not most people, are subject to Impostor Syndrome at some point in their career, through doubts of their achievements and a fear of being exposed as a fraud. Imposter Syndrome can be particularly challenging during university study. This event will explore the reasons why feeling like an impostor is such a common challenge whilst at university and strategies for minimizing its effects.

Professor Richard Freeman (Head of the Centre for Doctoral Education and the Deputy Director of the UCL, Bloomsbury and East London (UBEL) Doctoral Training Partnership) will be delivering a keynote talk on Imposter Syndrome, followed by brief presentations from 3 IOE Students/Alumni, who will share their experience of overcoming barriers, challenges, and feelings of Imposter Syndrome.
