East Ed and partners London College of Fashion and V&A East in partnership with Art Matters, the Art and Design Network for Newham & East London are coming together to explore ways to improve visual arts learning, and partnership it more representative and inclusive.
What to expect
The session will explore the findings and recommendations of the Visualise Report led by Marlene Wylie.
Marlene Wylie is a Creative Education Consultant & Facilitator and current President of the National Society of Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) and is the project lead of the Visualise: Race and Inclusion in Art Education research commission.
Marlene will be presenting key findings from the research and leading a workshop to help teachers to consider and apply these findings to their own teaching practice.
What is the Visualise Report
Runnymede Trust and Freelands Foundation report is an essential read, rich in qualitative and quantitative data. The report has found significant under-representation of minority ethnic artists in school curricula. As well as calling for diversification of the curriculum, the report also calls for greater diversity and representation in examination papers, and in the workforce more broadly. You can read the report HERE

is a cross-organisational effort between the world-leading East Bank partners: BBC, UCL, UAL's London College of Fashion, V&A and Sadler's Wells. The programme also features collaborations from other incredible local partners.
Together, we link local young people and educators to the exciting institutions, universities, and sectors unique to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, offering access to programmes exploring creative, digital, design, and careers. We aim to provide educators with professional development opportunities as well as provide a space for wider discussions around careers, well-being, and work culture.
We are delighted that UCL and London College of Fashion are now open in the Park and they will soon be followed by Sadler's Wells, V&A, and BBC in the following months and years.
