About this Event
Intuitive Movement Meditation (IMM) is an evidence-informed, trauma-aware movement practice developed through graduate research at Loyola Marymount University. Rooted in yoga philosophy, somatic psychology, mindfulness, and neuroscience, IMM supports stress relief, nervous system regulation, and embodied resilience.
This guided experience blends gentle intuitive movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness to help participants reconnect with their bodies, release tension, and cultivate emotional balance. The practice emphasizes choice, safety, and internal listening—no choreography, performance, or prior movement experience required.
IMM meets in person every second Sunday of the month.
Each month centers on a specific theme that is supported by a companion newsletter, including a reflective blog post offering deeper insight into the theme and what participants can expect when attending in person.
What to expect:
- Grounded arrival and intention setting
- Guided intuitive movement adaptable to all bodies
- Breathwork for stress regulation
- Somatic and mindfulness cues
- Rest and integration for nervous system support
IMM is ideal for anyone experiencing stress, burnout, life transitions, or disconnection from the body—including caregivers, educators, creatives, and wellness seekers.
No dance or yoga experience required. All bodies are welcome.
This is a community-supported practice. Your contribution helps sustain accessible movement offerings throughout the year.

Meet Your Facilitator
This experience is guided by Tasheena Medina Chavez, a movement educator, dancer, and graduate student whose work bridges intuitive movement, mindfulness, and nervous system–informed practices. IMM was developed through her graduate studies at Loyola Marymount University, integrating yoga philosophy, somatic awareness, and research-informed approaches to embodied well-being.
Tasheena’s facilitation style centers choice, accessibility, and self-trust. She creates spaces that invite participants to listen inward, move with curiosity, and reconnect with their bodies in a supportive, non-performance-based environment.
