Unleash your creativity at Mood Fabrics! Review how sewing machines work and get hands on practice with threading machine, winding bobbin, and much more with expert Danesha Anglin.

Step into the world of fashion and design at the Mood Fabrics Showroom in Ponce City Market! This class is geared towards those who are familiar with sewing machines but would like a refresher and hands on practice.

Led by expert instructor Danesha Anglin, you will get up close and personal with the mechanics of a sewing machine. You'll spend the class actively practicing essential techniques while prioritizing safety.

What You'll Be Doing

• Reviewing the Mechanics of a Sewing Machine: Identify and understand the function of every key part of a standard sewing machine.
• Prepping the machine: Learn the foolproof, step-by-step method to wind a bobbin, insert it correctly, and thread the machine without the tangles.
• Stitch Practice: Get hands-on experience practicing a straight stitch on fabric and learn about seam allowances.
• Finishing Seams: Learn three techniques you can use to finish off your seams.

What to Bring

• Your Own Machine (Optional): You are highly encouraged to bring your personal machine if you'd like to get comfortable using it! Please bring your power cord, foot pedal, and manual.
• Just Yourself (Alternative): Mood Fabrics has 7 sewing machines available to use during class on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Notepad & Pen: Highly recommended if you like to jot down tips, tricks, and troubleshooting reminders.
• Note: Practice fabric, thread, and basic tools will be provided for all participants.

This is a highly interactive, practical class where you spend the majority of your time getting a hands on experience with the machine. You’ll walk away with the practical muscle memory and absolute comfort needed to tackle your own sewing projects independently at home.
