About this Event
AN INTRODUCTION TO PODCASTING
Podcasting has exploded into one of the most powerful and accessible forms of storytelling today—an industry that millions tune into daily. Whether you’re looking to launch a creative project, build a brand, connect with an audience, or simply share a story that matters, podcasting offers a unique and flexible platform to do it all. But getting started can feel daunting—and doing it well requires more than just hitting “record.”
This three-hour session is designed to cut through that overwhelm. You’ll gain a clear, practical introduction to the world of podcasting: what it is, how it works, and how it can work for you. From shaping your idea to getting it out into the world, we’ll cover the essentials—equipment, planning, interview techniques, editing, platforms, marketing, and audience development—along with opportunities to get hands-on and start building your own approach.
Led by Si Beckwith, this session draws on extensive real-world experience across the full podcasting process. Si has worked as a host, writer, producer, editor, audio technician, and voiceover artist, bringing projects to life from concept to completion. He has created and hosted multiple podcasts with strong audience engagement and recognition, and has produced content for a wide range of clients—from major organisations to independent creatives and community groups. Alongside this, he actively mentors emerging podcasters, helping them develop confidence, clarity, and quality in their work.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a podcast—or want to take your ideas further—this session will give you the foundation to do it with purpose and skill.

Our work is particularly focused on supporting:
- Individuals experiencing social isolation, low confidence, or challenges with mental wellbeing
- Aspiring and emerging comedians and performers, including those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds
- Local community members who want to engage with comedy in a safe, welcoming environment
Through workshops, creative projects, and performance opportunities, we aim to:
- Strengthen community connections
- Promote inclusion and accessibility
- Support mental wellbeing
