Introduction to Photography

This introductory workshop to photography aims to give you the understanding and necessary technique required to take your photography to the next level.

We will start with the basics of understanding your camera and look at the triangle of exposure, meter modes, focusing, camera modes and all the things technical that go into taking that perfect shot.

Using photo examples we will look at essential photography composition techniques like "the rule of thirds", "leading lines", "frame within a frame", "rule of odds" and others.

You will then have a look at our photography studio, high key and low key lighting, three point lighting and a brief introduction into common techniques: loop lighting, Rembrandt lighting, Split Lighting, etc.

You will need: a camera that can be set to full manual mode with fully charged batteries or smartphone with pro photo mode/manual exposure mode.

We will provide: access to photography studio, barista style drinks and refreshments available for sale
