Becca Poremba is an artist, yoga teacher and massage therapist;
‘I gather inspiration and materials while walking through the Northumbrian landscape. I love being outside as much as possible and find great satisfaction in creating paint and artwork from natural pigments.
Northumbrian clay, sandstone, sea coal and andesite have become a beautiful minimal colour palette from which I create textiles and painting. It is often the qualities of the pigments that dictate the painting, sea coal for example, has a gritty yet shiny quality which is perfect for Crows.
The process of gathering from the land and creating can be extremely therapeutic. I love the tactile and sustainable nature of this practice. I hope my work inspires others to connect to our beautiful landscape and have a play with natural pigments themselves!’
