American Sign Language - Beginner

Connect in a whole new way by learning the basics of American Sign Language! This comprehensive, eight-week class offers a welcoming introduction to both the language structure and the rich culture of the Deaf population.

Through highly interactive classroom activities, you will build a strong foundation in visual communication. This course focuses on practical application, ensuring you walk away with a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and the ability to confidently use introductory ASL.

Immerse yourself in the classroom enviornment by practicing the "Voices off" class enviornment, designed to accelerate your learning. Develop your expressive skills and receptive skills, learning both how to sign to others and accurately understand others signing to you. Go beyond simple vocabulary by learning about unique grammar and sentance structure as well as cultural behaviors, etiquette and social norms to connect with the Deaf community respectfully and authentically.

How to Get There: Parking and Directions 🗺️

Bristlecone Hall is located on the corner of 200 S 800 W in Cedar City, Utah. Please utilize the parking lots directly to the West or the South of the building. Please be aware that permits may be required during specific hours and student activites may fill up the lots early. Arrive a few minutes early to ensure you can find a spot and walk to the classroom. Room 318 is on the 3rd floor, and elevators can be accessed from any entrance.
