Intro to Screen Printing
About this Event
Have you ever wanted to create your own art prints, posters, custom t-shirts or fabric designs using the printmaking process of screen printing? This workshop is great for anyone looking to expand your creative practice, interested in producing your own merchandise, or simply curious about the screen printing process. Taking place over two Saturdays, this hands-on workshop covers everything you need to know to create professional-quality screen prints on both paper and fabric.
Students will explore the fundamentals of screen printing from start to finish, including preparing artwork, creating stencils using both digital and hand-crafted methods, and printing methods. Participants will learn how photographic emulsion works to transfer images onto a screen, as well as how to create and expose designs using transparency films, hand-drawn artwork, and cut-paper or vinyl stencils.
The class willcover screen preparation, image registration, ink mixing and preparation, and the differences between various ink types used for paper and textile printing. Students will gain practical experience pulling prints by hand and will produce their own designs on paper and fabric, including t-shirts and other textile surfaces.
Additional topics include screen care and reclamation, troubleshooting common printing issues, proper workspace setup, and tips for achieving clean, consistent results. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a strong understanding of the complete screen printing workflow and leave with finished prints and the confidence to continue printing on their own.
Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. The $300 registration fee includes all materials and both class sessions.
