Intro to Hand Stitching @ Braid Studios

In this class you will learn to basics of hand sewing. This is a 2 part workshop where you will be making your own needle minder kit.
About this Event

What is a needle minder kit?
It’s a portable keepsake where you can keep your needles, pins, scissors, measuring tape,sewing notes, and loose threads.
In session 1 you will learn decorative stitches to make your embroidery come to life.
You will also learn some fill techniques to push your creativity beyond just the satin stitch.
In session 2 you will learn how to sew pockets and assemble your kit together.
There will be 3 options for designs:
Rectangle, Bat, and Heart.
All materials will be provided.

Sadie Gilker is an avid embroiderer, painter, and designer whose practice explores texture, memory, andthe natural world. Sadie enjoys delving into the history of embroidery and believes that in order to keep ourcraft thriving, we need to explore the “Why-to’s” for our “How-to’s.” With over 10 years of embroidery experience and a teaching approach rooted in sustainability and collective care, Sadie creates awelcoming space for all skill levels.
