In this 2-hour workshop, students will learn the basics of working with fused glass, such as cutting and shaping the glass, applying frit (finely ground glass), and layering different colors to create a design. They will also learn about proper safety practices when working with the specialized equipment needed for fused glass, such as hand tools and grinders.
Our instructors will guide you through the process of planning and composing your design and will provide tips and techniques for choosing and combining different colors and textures of glass. Once you’ve assembled your pieces, you’ll learn how we properly fire it in a kiln to fuse the glass together.
Glass fusing is the process of joining compatible sheet glasses together in a kiln until the glass fuses at approximately 1490 degrees Fahrenheit. It grants you the power to create colorful, dynamic works of glass art that are completely unique. Unlike many other glass forms, glass fusing allows you as much time as you need to bring your designs to life since you are working with the glass while it is cold.
Your fused glass projects will stay at the studio after the workshop to be fired in our kiln. We will notify you as soon as they’re ready to be picked up!
All material included.
