Intro to Blacksmithing & Knifemaking
- How to safely handle the core blacksmithing tools: hammers, tongs, punches, and vise
- How the gas forge works and how to safely move, heat, and shape hot steel
- Basic hammering technique and anvil fundamentals
- The basics of grinding on a 2x72 belt grinder
- Why steel is hardened and tempered in knife heat treatment
By the end of class, you'll forge and grind your own simple hand-forged piece to take home!
IMPORTANT - Waivers must be signed before start of class! .
🦺 Safety & Dress Code (Required)
For your safety, proper attire is mandatory:
- Long pants
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes
- Clothing that fits securely and doesn't hang loose around machinery
Heavy apron is recommended but not required
Be sure to bring a water bottle so you stay hydrated during the class.
If you are not dressed appropriately, you will not be able to participate in the class and the ticket will not be transferrable nor refundable.
