Into the Blue: Indigo & Woad Botanical Colour Lab
About this Event
Following our recent harvest, we are organising this session using the indigo and woad grown in our Fibre & Dye Garden created at Chapter Arts Centre (which just started this May as part of the "From Seed to Cloth" project).
The event is co-hosted by:
- Maki Kita (Multidisciplinary Artist and Transformative Workshop Facilitator based at Chapter Arts Centre)
- Doreen Barnaville (Botanical Dye Specialist, Researcher, Book Artist, and Core Member of the Sustainable Growing Futures project at Cardiff Metropolitan University)
Both of whom are part of the team that co-established the communal Fibre & Dye Garden at Chapter Arts Centre.
What We Will Do:
- Blue Dye Demonstration: See a live natural blue dye demonstration using the indigo and woad harvested from our garden at Chapter.
- Explore Botanical Colour Samples: Doreen will bring samples from other plants to give you a taste of what could be achieved with botanical colours, as well as blue.
- Open Q&A: A space for discussion and knowledge sharing about the dye garden and botanical colours.
