Intertidal Bioblitz - Rockpooling

As part of our Above and Below project, the intertidal bioblitz at Cramond offers a hands-on opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of Edinburgh’s shoreline through rockpooling.

Ever wondered if there are any fish in the sea? This is your chance to find out exactly what is going on under the surface. Set against the unique meeting point of the River Almond and the Firth of Forth, participants will join us to investigate the hidden world revealed at low tide - discovering crabs, anemones, seaweeds, and other coastal species that thrive there.

This survey encourages curiosity, observation, and environmental awareness, inviting people of all ages to connect with the dynamic intertidal zone while contributing to a shared snapshot of local marine life.

Where

We will be meeting at the start of the causeway to Cramond Island at 10:30. We anticipate this event finishing by 12:00.

Parking at Cramond beach car park.

Important Information

We will be outside for this session so please wear warm, comfortable and waterproof clothing. It is also advisable to wear waterproof sturdy footwear as we will be on the beach and in the intertidal pools.
