Join us for Derby’s biggest annual volunteer-powered women's rights event. Be part of our FREE (donations appreciated) popular, inspiring, multicultural, award-winning International Women's Day Derby Festival with performances, empowering speakers, campaigns, film screenings, craftivism, showcasing women's causes, sports and enterprise, and family fun. You can discover local services, women's support and social groups, plus you’ll also meet lots of inspiring trailblazers such as women who are firefighters, artists, politicians, rugby players, scientists, engineers, business owners, changemakers and stereotype-busters in typically male-dominated fields. Open to all supporters, all genders, families welcome, inclusive, good vibes. 1-5pm, Saturday 8th March 2025 at the Museum of Making - drop by any time during the event.
Accessible venue, ground floor, level access with accessible toilet facilities. BSL provided thanks to Derby City Council support. Quiet space available.

12pm Saturday 8th March: March for Women's Liberation - all supporters, all genders and families welcome.
Meet at 12pm at The Spot rings, St Peters St, Derby DE1 2AD
We will carry a community-made banner thanks to Spiral Arts, and you are welcome to bring your banners too! We will march through the city and head into the event for 1pm at the Museum of Making via Cathedral Green.
11am- 2.45pm Friday 7th March: Derby Speaks Up to #AccelerateAction
* Freedom from misogyny
* Our campaign to inspire more funded programmes for safer, healthier relationships at the earliest signs of unhealthy behaviour or domestic/partner abuse; talks, film, results of our survey and research, plus a panel with local policymakers
At Derby West Indian Community Association (DWICA) Community Centre, Carrington St, Derby DE1 2ND.
Invited campaigners, journalists and representatives from local agencies and domestic abuse charities will attend, discuss the campaign findings and pledge action to address the issues raised. Members of the community can also attend and take part, subject to availability (places are limited). Booking info coming soon.
5pm – 10pm Friday 7th March: Feminist Friday:
Join us for any part of the evening at Derby West Indian Community Association (DWICA) Community Centre
5pm Welcome Refreshments, relaxed social time and film screenings
6pm Derby Sisters Rising for CommUNITY Panel – hear from women who are countering the rise of misogyny and other divisive, populist and far-right narratives
7pm Express to De-Stress & Un-Oppress – starting with the Rebel Women’s Choir, the evening continues with uplifting, liberating creative expression through poetry, spoken word, singers, open mic, night market with crafts and food stalls, soft drinks bar (no alcohol) and reclaim the dancefloor disco with global music and women’s rights anthems.
