The World's Most Misunderstood Birds
Vultures have one of the worst reputations in the animal kingdom; but they are also among the most important birds on Earth.
Join Dr. Michele Losee, Raptor Ecologist, Master Falconer and Executive Director of the International Raptor & Falconry Center, for an eye-opening presentation exploring the remarkable biology, ecology and conservation of vultures. Learn why these highly specialized scavengers are essential to healthy ecosystems, how they help prevent the spread of disease, and why many vulture species around the world are facing dramatic declines.
You'll also meet Druantia, IRFC's resident female Turkey Vulture. She will be present after the program, giving you the rare opportunity to observe one of North America's most misunderstood birds up close while learning what truly makes vultures extraordinary.
If you've ever thought vultures were ugly, creepy, or simply "nature's cleanup crew," prepare to leave with a completely different perspective.
