About this Event

International Observe the Moon Night

International Observe the Moon Night is an engaging evening dedicated to discovering our closest celestial neighbour in new and fascinating ways. Featuring Claude Schneider, the event combines science, photography, and stunning lunar imagery to explore the Moon’s phases, surface features, and the many ways we can observe it. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the observatory and, weather permitting, view celestial objects through telescopes, making this an exciting experience for both astronomy enthusiasts and curious beginners.

Feature Talk — 50 Ways to See the Moon
Drawing on his background in astrophysics and experience as an enthusiastic amateur astrophotographer, Claude Schneider explores 50 ways to see the Moon differently. This will be a fast-paced, image-rich tour, covering smartphone snapshots to smart telescopes, Earthshine and Moonshine, the Terminator, lunar phases, and images from Artemis. This talk explores the science and practical photography behind our closest celestial neighbour. No specialist knowledge or expensive equipment is required, just curiosity and an interest in looking at the Moon more closely.
