This Intermediate Guided Driving Tour invites you to explore the desert's rugged beauty, perfect for those with some 4-wheel drive experience. Navigate sandy washes, rocky paths, and uneven terrain as you visit awe-inspiring spots like Pumpkin Patch and Fonts Point. With expert guidance and a small group of fellow explorers, you'll experience the desert like never before.

Location: Meet at the ABF store in the Mall: 587 Palm Canyon Dr. #110, Borrego Springs, CA, 92004 (next to Calico’s). The group will then caravan to the start of the route.

PRIMARY VEHICLE + DRIVER:
Non-members: $65/vehicle
ABF members: $55/vehicle
Students: $25/vehicle
ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS IN VEHICLE:
Additional general participant: $20
Student participant: $10
Children under 5: FREE
*Please note that as the Anza-Borrego Foundation is a non-profit organization, all program costs are used to support current and future education programs, including subsidized programs that seek to increase access to the outdoors.
Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships are available for those with financial hardship. If you’d like to request a scholarship, please reach out to [email protected] with a two–three paragraph description about why you’d like to attend this program and your need for a scholarship.

What is included:
Participants will venture along sandy trails and washes to reach spectacular stops such as:
- Pumpkin Patch
- Five Palms
- 17 Palms
- Fonts Point or Vista del Malpais
There may be an optional additional afternoon segment for participants wanting a further challenge.
Participants can expect areas with deep or soft sand, rocks to drive over or around, and some uneven terrain.
Who should attend:
Those with previous offroading experience
4WD or AWD and higher clearance vehicles are recommended
Participants should bring:
Adequate water
- Snacks/lunch
- Comfortable shoes to spend short periods walking around at tour stops

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation requests must be received at least seven days before the first day of the event if you wish to receive a refund. Events may be cancelled due to unsafe weather, road conditions, or low attendance, with 24-hour notice, if possible. If ABF cancels a program, we will issue a full refund or credit.
