Interactive Tyne Model and Bird Walk

Join Tyne Rivers Trust and the Tyne Derwent Way to take a look at the interactive Tyne model and then get out by the Tyne itself to learn about the birds that call it home.

First, learn about the Tyne: The Tyne River's Trust model of the Tyne catchment was created so that we can bring the River Tyne ‘with us’ to show how the river system reacts to changes in the climate. Climate change is bringing more extreme weather resulting in flooding and droughts but there are things we can do to help. Let us show you the main tributaries of the Tyne with flowing water, areas of ‘rain’ and changeable sections and learn how we can slow the flow of water through better land management practices and natural flood management. Discover how practices implemented upstream have an effect downstream and can help our precious rivers adapt to a changing climate and benefit both wildlife and us too!

Then, join a bird walk: Michael Turner is a local ornithologist with an eye and an ear for all sorts of birds, from the tiny (wrens and goldcrests) to the huge (red kites and herons). Join him for a bird walk along the Tyne, and learn how to spot them yourself.

Payment Structure:

In brief, the tiers are as follows:

Tier 1, Paying £0 - £3 per event

• I frequently stress about meeting basic* needs and don’t always achieve them.

Tier 2 , Paying £6 per event

• I may stress about meeting my basic needs* but still regularly achieve them.

Tier 3 , Paying £12 per event

• I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic needs*.

*BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transport.
